Oberlin, the Tipping Point: There’s a Backlash Coming And There Will be No Stopping It

Okay, this is a little dated. But it’s worth a look….

Since then, Oberlin College has been hit with more problems. 22 million of them. The $11 million was only a third of the jury’s finding. [1] It turns out the Hitler youth and their taxpayer funded leadership was hit for a grand total of $33 million worth of penalties.

It’s not nearly enough of course, but it’s a start.

Steven Hayward over at Powerline looks at this and wonders if they’ve learned their lesson. The answer: Probably not [2]… and I think that’s probably correct.

After all, we are dealing with leftists here, who are entirely disconnected from reality.

Have such people learned the lesson in the case of the Russia scam they tried to perpetrate on the country?

No.

They’re still doubling down. So, nobody should be surprised if the So-called professors at Oberlin College don’t learn their lesson either. They’re all part and parcel of the same deal. It’s pretty much a guarantee that the faculty at Oberlin College is going to be doubling down on this one too. In fact, they already are.

The words of Viktor Frankl ring true in this case…

I am absolutely convinced that the gas chambers of Auschwitz, Treblinka, and Maidanek were ultimately prepared not in some Ministry or other in Berlin, but rather at the desks and in the lecture halls of nihilistic scientists and philosophers.”

Frankly I wonder how many people actually recognize the threat posed by such people in our society today.

I’m with Glenn Reynolds on this one. Hit them back, hit them harder and hit them where they bleed the most. Money. It’s the only way we’re going to get this situation under control, and get our country back.

Of course, the first step would be getting government out of the education game entirely. How much of Oberlin’s funding comes from government?

Translation:

How much of our tax money is supporting Oberlin college’s efforts to fill the minds of our young with the kind of leftist mush that caused this whole thing in the first place?

Whatever else this series of events is, it is a blueprint for fighting back against the social justice warrior nonsense that we’ve been subject to for the last 40 some-odd years and longer. David French at National Review agrees [3], saying in part…

The case represents an important moment — the moment when the American legal establishment learned that it can potentially impose steep costs on institutions that participate in the kind of cruel, malicious, and vicious mob tactics that have become an all-too-familiar part of the American political landscape. It turns out that the law can indeed offer an answer to the worst forms of illiberal behavior.

This is, I think, a tipping point in the long-term war against those attacking our country, our culture, our way of life. The war against the SJW brownshirts isn’t over, it never is. But the recent events these last couple of years with regards to liberals being hauled up in front of the public and exposed as liars and thugs is, at least for now, tipping the balance.

Again, the exposure of the Russia scam as exactly that, the attacks on Christian businesses such as Chick-fil-A which have largely proven unsuccessful, and so many other instances, indicate a massive backlash that’s coming against the left. The American people have had enough. They’re starting to fight back. The giant has awoken.
