Have We Sacrificed Olympic Medal Count on the Altar of Diversity?

My friends the absolutely abysmal medal count in the Winter Olympics for these United States had me looking into the causes of the whole thing and I believe that I found it.

It’s beginning to look like the US Olympic Committee has sacrificed our medal count, our International standing amongst Olympic athletic teams, on the altar of diversity.

Observe the Washington Post [1] from just before the start of the Olympics:

The U.S. Olympic Committee says it’s taking its most diverse team ever to a Winter Games, an impressive and deserved boast that requires a caveat of sorts.

Yes, USOC officials are pleased the team includes more African Americans and Asian Americans — and even the first two openly gay men — than recent winter squads. But they also realize this year’s U.S. Olympic team, not unlike those of most other nations gathering in PyeongChang this week, is still overwhelmingly white.

First, keep in mind that this article I’ve linked here actually went up prior to the Olympics even being run.

Of course, you can already see where this is going. The usual social justice Warrior garbage. At the hands of the SJW crowd, we’ve gone from worrying about training athletes who can win races, to worrying first about what race the athlete is and ignoring whether or not they can win races.

And of course in this case the author is complaining that we haven’t gone far enough. But you see, for such people it’s never enough. Never has been, never will be. Once we allow ourselves to be held hostage to these people we always will be…. Assuming that we never have the courage to stand up and say get back in your corner with the pointed cap.

Now before now before you start charging me with sexism racism homophobia and whatever else is on the list of the leftist seven deadly sins these days, let’s try an experiment, shall we?

Let’s take your average NBA team. Or if you like, your average NFL team. The most recent census that I’ve seen suggests that something on the order of eight or 9% of Americans are black.

Imagine with me if you will the performance of NBA teams or NFL teams with a restriction in place that they have no more than 10% black people, just so they can have teams that’s supposedly look more like America. You know as well as I do the performance of such a team would be even worse than we saw here at the Olympics… And the problem would be easily traceable.

You see, the NBA the NFL and to a somewhat lesser degree Major League Baseball represent the last standing meritocracies in these United States particularly since the US OC is decided to pursue this maddeningly stupid course. Some people have abilities that other people don’t have. That’s why the racial balance in the NFL and the NBA and Major League Baseball is what it is. And I say good for them.

You earn positions on such a team by means of your performance on the field, not by the color of your skin or any other factor for that matter. That’s always to be desired.

(And that meritocracy, by the way is precisely the reason that Colin Kaepernick was throwing his temper tantrums for so long. He simply didn’t have the talent necessary to pull the job off.)

But but now the usoc has seen fit to throw away the ancient Olympic motto, Citius, Altius, Fortius, which is Latin for “Faster, Higher, Stronger”, and replaced it with something that may make the s j w crowd feel good about itself, but few other people.

That’s how we came home relatively empty-handed, people.
