Bernie Sanders on the Stump

Bernie Sanders ( Socialist – Vermont [1]) tried his hand at playing a Christian, and it did not go very well, from Columbus Dispatch [2]:

“It would be hard to make the case that we are a just society or anything resembling a just society today,” Sanders said at the influential Christian college that usually draws Republican presidential candidates.

“In the United States of America today, there is massive injustice in terms of income and wealth inequality.”

Bernie, you mean the United States is economically unjust as opposed to say your ideal of Cuba? In every economic system, someone decides who gets the wealth. In a market economy, it the consumer who decides who gets the fruits of their labors. In a socialist economy, it the political ruling class which decides who gets the fruits of your labor, and the first thing any political ruling class does is make themselves rich, at your expense.

As for Sanders, he had no problem fattening at the public trough as Senator. I have scant reason to believe that making him president would make an honest man out of him, from National Public Radio [3]:

The Sanders household took in more than $205,000 in 2014, and paid the feds nearly $28,000 in taxes — an effective rate of about 20 percent based on Sanders’ taxable income of $141,000. That means they likely earned more than 95 percent of Americans, according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Members of the ruling class, such as Sanders, may talk about economic redistribution, but they have utterly no intention of redistributing any of their money.
