Jimmy Carter Deserves Sympathy, But Scant Praise

I am no doctor, but it appears that Jimmy Carter, the thirty-ninth President of the United States,. is dying of cancer.  He has my sympathy.   However that is where I draw the line.  Rex Nutting opines that Carter deserves our thanks, from Market Watch [1]:

Jimmy Carter is our most unfairly reviled president since Herbert Hoover. He doesn’t deserve the rap he’s gotten as one of our worst presidents ever.

For many people (especially on the right), Carter is seen as a president whose weakness ruined the economy and whose appeasement destroyed America’s standing in the world./blockquote>

I decline to give thanks to the president who gave away the Panama Canal, brought the moo-lahs to power in Iran and whose fecklessness gave the Iran hostage crisis. If you want to put a good word in for Carter, give credit for his work with Habitat for Humanity.
