Breakfast Scramble

DavidL's Breakfast Scramble

Double standard on gods,   a twit judge in Wisconsin ruled the National Day Prayer is somehow unconstitutional.   So while praying to the God of Abraham is unconstitutional,  we can pray to silly Earth Goddess, from Ryan J. Foley, Associated Press [1]:

MADISON, Wis. — The Obama administration said Thursday it will appeal a court decision that found the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional.

U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb in Madison ruled last week the National Day of Prayer that Congress established 58 years ago amounts to a call for religious action.

In a notice filed Thursday, the Justice Department said it will challenge the decision in the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago. The notice came after about two dozen members of Congress condemned the ruling and pressed for an appeal.

If the state can not promote a particular religious belief, the the state has no business promoting Earth Day, a rather silly and totally religious holiday.

Eric Cartman v Prophet Mohammed, granted the humor of South Park is juvenile.  If you don’t like South Park, don’t watch it.  Any how for South Park two hundredth the shows producers have pitted Eric Cartman versus the Prophet Mohammed.    This seems to upset some camel jockeys [2].   What I think is that if Hohammed can’t handle Cartman, Islam isn’t much of a religion.

Comedy Central wimps, Allah Pundit, Hot Air [3]:

As InstaGlenn [4] says, this is actually the perfect ironic conclusion [5] to the media’s post-Tax Day binge of hyperventilating about tea party extremism.  Cranks holding up “Impeach the Kenyan!” signs at a right-wing rally are grist for a thousand NYT op-eds about Oklahoma City, but have jihadis intimidate the parent company of one of the most highly regarded comedies on television into blacking out its shows and it’s essentially a curio for the TV beat.

If the Muslims can’t handle Eric Cartman, a mere cartoon character, it is little wonder they can’t handle pig, scantly dressed women and Jews.

Blagojevic’s Six Secrets, Tom Bevan, RCP [6]:

The Ward Room, an NBC News sponsored blog about the inner workings of Chicago politics, reports on six items from Rod Blagojevich’s subpoena of Barack Obama [7] that were supposed to be redacted, but weren’t due to a glitch in the electronic filing of the document. The six items that redactions were supposed to conceal were:

1. Obama may have lied about conversations with convicted fraudster Tony Rezko
2. Obama may have overtly recommended Valerie Jarret for his Senate seat
3. A supporter of President Obama may have offered quid pro quo on a Jarrett senate appointment
4. Obama maintained a list of good Senate candidates
5. Rahm Emanuel allegedly floated Cheryl Jackson’s name for the Senate seat
6. Obama had a secret phone call with Blagojevich

Read the Ward Room post for the details on each item [7]. Needless to say, if what Blagojevich’s attorneys are alleging is grounded in fact, this could be a major headache for the President of the United States.

You can take the President of Chicago, but you can’t take the Chicago out of the President.
