On Why McPain Lost

DRJ Patterico’s Pontifications [1] gets warm on why the McCain-Palin ticket lost to a leftist moron:

To many conservatives, McCain’s maverick strain was not a selling point and his pick of Palin was not enough to reassure them. I understand those concerns. Does anyone doubt that, as President, the first thing McCain would have done is pursue a bipartisan agreement with the Democratic-controlled Congress? While that might be a good political tactic, it reinforces the idea that Washington politicians are interchangeable

Maverick is a good word.  Note however that McPain did not coin the term.  Rush Limbaugh did.   McPain only adopted it as campaign theme.   Limbaugh’s Maverick pardodies were not meant as compliments to McPain.   Yes Maverick is good word, but a better word for McCain would traitor to the cause.   McCain campioned Amensty, opposed tax cuts and helped gut the First Amendment, Campaign Finance Reform.  See how well that beauty worked.

As Karl Rove has said, elections are won by securing the bases.   McPain’s support from the base was weak  because the McCain stabbed conservatives in the back too many times.

The secret to for conservatives to win elections is to run real conservatives, not RINO”s like McPain.  The necessary step to eliminate RINO nominees, sure losers, to to abolish the open primary.  As republicans, we have no need to let democrats select our nominee.
