“Surely a man smart enough to be elected president should have foreseen how these remarks would be taken. Don’t Harvard law grads know the impact of words

Well I can not see why BO is not a practicing attorney.   Lawyers make their living off their words.

Jennifer Rubin, Commentary:

The entire exchange is of course deeply offensive and disrespectful, treating his opponent’s running mate as a sexualized object and a mere mother, to put it bluntly. I can’t imagine there is any Democratic woman — forget the Republicans and Independents — who isn’t embarrassed. Obama appears to be crumbling under pressure, reduced to swinging away at the person who has supplanted him as the political star of the Election

The MSM holding out the meme that the Messiah did not intend his lipstick remark to apply to Sarah.  Marc Ambinder, Atlantic:

Suddenly, common analogies are sexist?

The McCain campaign has little respect for Obama, but they don’t think he is stupid. And the only way one can conclude that Obama meant to refer to Gov. Sarah Palin as a pig is to have concluded that Obama is as dumb as a doornail

For the record, the idea that BO is not an dumb as door nail is Ambinder’s.    I actually have seen a door nail or two in my time.

BO has built his campaign to the twin towers of his self-proclaimed judgement and his power as a word smith.    Gee for a canidate running on his ability to use words,  he sure isn’t very good at actually using them.    I am inclined to believe that BO actually didn’t mean to insult Sarah.  I also believe that Dan Quayle knew how to spell potato.

  1. Not being too thin-skinned, I’d probably not be offended by such a remark; however, given that everything said these days is racist, I like seeing the 11111111! being hoisted on his own leftist petard.

    Some examples or racism:

    “Community organizer” http://hotair.com/archives/200.....eck-today/

    “E-nee, me-nee, my-nee, mo, catch a tiger by the toe…” http://www.volokh.com/archives.....1074870237

    “niggardly” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C.....ggardly%22

    “black hole” http://www.theamericanmind.com.....le-racist/

  2. @Fersboo

Nor would I, frankly, absent the now famous line about lipstick on a hockey mom.
Again, it’s a contextual thing… that everyone else in the room got, even if, assuming the best of it, Obama did not.

Either way, Obama labels himself a fool, and possibly a vicious fool.

  3. VDH, points out that BO made two analogies, one to a pig and hte other to a dead fish, It seems obvious that the pig comments refered to Sarah and the fish comment to McCain.  You can try to explain one analogy away, but not two.

further, give the some eighteen million voters BO offended in the primaries, you think he’d have learned a little senstivity by now.
