DavidL's Breakfast Scramble

The Luck of the Irish, Democrat and Chronicle:

Some attendees at Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade have come for years; for others, it was a first experience. But all said braving the cold and wind to see leprechauns, Irish dancing and bagpipe performances was worth it.

It seem, as for a parades go, it usually better to Itailain in Rochester than Irish.   The Irish have the darnest luck with their parade.  Then mid Mach is late winter in Rochester, and attmpting an winter time parade can be hazardous here.   It does seem that more often as note, that a Saint Patrick Day parade here means of bliizzard.  When this year Irish Eyss were smiing the weahter was cooperative for a change.

Sermon from the Elevator?  Daily Adveriser:

Every Catholic child grew up with the list of seven deadly sins that could lead the faithful disastrously astray. They included lust, gluttony and greed. The Vatican has issued a new list of deadly sins, based in part on changing technology and the modern social climate.

Sure Barack!

March 14 (Bloomberg) — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says he “vehemently” rejects comments made by the longtime spiritual adviser and pastor of his Chicago church, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright Jr.

“I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy,” Illinois Senator Obama said in a statement today.

Reuters is blowing smoke, in attributing a Pakistani attack on al Qaeda to US forces.    Note the narrative:

The intelligence official said four missiles were fired at the house in Shahnawaz Kheil Dhoog, a village near the town of Wana in the South Waziristan region on the Afghan border, just after 3 p.m. (1000 GMT).

It does not  take us four missiles to take out one house.  One PGM, precison guided munition, one target distroyed.   Now the Pakis might need four.

  1. They might, indeed.
Thing is, four missles wold be lobbed at the target on the idea that the guidence was, shall we say, less than ideal.
Which in turn, suggests that one or more such missles would MISS.
Which leads to the question of where they WOULD land.

Still, in this case, they apparently did NOT miss.

  2. If the four missles were fired, in the expectation that three might miss they were not US mirsiles fired by US forces.  Our precision guides missiles dnn’t miss.  More voer, the reporting indicated one drone, and either four ar seven missiles.  Unless it is xome classified program, we simply do not field any drone which carrires more than two missiles.  Besides one JDAM would be suffiient

  3. You misunderstand my point.
More than granted, the missles were Pakistani. But the patterns don’t match.

My guess, based on the idea that they didn’t miss, was that they were guided by the US troops in the area.

  4. It appears that life in Pakistan will not ve quite as safe for al Qaeda as once was.  Taking out safe house requires both good intelligence and a willingness to act.
