It is amusing to see so many people who were so overly concerned about the FBI investigation of William Jefferson, he of the the “cash in the freezer” ploy, now doing a victory dance of sorts, over the similar investigation of Ted Stevens [1] .
Not that I think there is a defense of Mr. Stevens at all, mind you… I just find the different reactions of the lefty [2] blogs [3] this morning, amusing. Particularly, those who were so staunchly defensive of William Jefferson.
Captain Ed [4]suggests, that this is directly tied to earmarks, and the ease with which funding is secured, and re-routed. I tend to agree. However, given that the Democrats have downplayed the importance [5] of fixing that particular problem [6], I wonder what the reaction is going to be now?
Don Surber [7]points out that Stevens isn’t alone up there.
