The Speech Tonight

I will be somewhat interested in reading the President’s speech, tonight.

I seldom bother watching such things, anymore, since reading the actual text… what the speechmaker actually says, I find far more informative than listening to it, and then being forced to listen to the news media alternately whine about it, or do their cheerleading number, depending on who the speaker was.

What I’m hearing from the WH by way of the backwires,  though is enough to spark my interest:

It comes down to five new brigades going to Iraq, around 20k more troops… for the purpose of securing the capital… house by house. The President plans, apparently, to also ask for a larger army overall. You KNOW how the far left is going to react to that one…. but here it is; Bush undershot the troop numbers because the Democrats… particularly the anti-war leftists… would never have supported an initially larger number. Like his father before him GWB made the mistake of bending to the will of the left.

Apparently, Bush is saying “enough of that” and if so, it’s about time.
