RUSH LIMBAUGH ON THE 2008 PRESIDENTIAL FIELD: “To be honest with you, there’s nobody out there that revs me up, so why should I pretend that there is?” (Via The Corner).

UPDATE: There’s also this bit:

CALLER: What do you think about Brownback’s chances?

RUSH: (Laughs.)

Ouch.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Yes, it’s an ouch for Brownback. It’s also an ouch for the GOP — if Limbaugh can’t get excited about their field, who will?

Look, gang… It’s like I have been saying since Reagan left office; Who I get behind is who will do the least damage to the Reagan Legacy, in combo with who will do the best at defeating the liberal Demorats. It’s my judgement that for the majority on the Republican side, that’s been the deciding factor every election cycle since that time.

At the moment, this bottom lines at their being nobody in the Republican field willing to embrace Reagan’s values, thus putting the whole of the Republican party into damage control mode.

One Response to “Nobody Large, Yet”

  1. From my recent blogging, but off the top of my head, credit given as remembered.

The democratic field is skewed to the left.  The only moderate who could mount a decent general campaign, is Richadson of New Mexico.  However Richardson doesn’t have tbe money and will not get it.  This campaign will be bought.  H/T Captain Ed.

If this election is about money, then the republican best oppoeent will be Mrs. Cl;nton.  She will raise million, but scare even more into the republicans coffers.  Further Mrs. Clinton will turn off the democrat leftiest base but motivate the heck of the republican base.

Micheal Medved, on Townhall, think the election will be won from the middle.  You need to keep the base and atract the moderate swing voters.  The republicans lost the latter, last time.

In 06,the republicans were seens plagued with scandal.  Well know the congressional republicans are out of power and corruption focus will be more focused on the democrats, Byrd, Monohan, Jefferson, Murtha, Pelosi, Reid.

Patrick Ruffini reweighted a recent WaPo poll to reflect party registration as per the last elections.  Several republicans could beat any leftiest the democrats could field.  That is you put any

From Kate O’Beirn, Women are not a monolithic voting bloc.  They will support a canidate who appeals to them.  Geraldine Ferraro lost the woman’s vote.  Among the republican contede\r, Mitt Romney is the only one has had only one wife.  I think Romney can be both strong, and non threatening, a trick which Mrs. Clinton can not duplicate.

If the republicans field a good well balanced canidate, they weil mop up any democrat leftiest, and aside from Richardson, all the democrats left are leftiests.
