• Cats are creatures of extremes. How is it that something so cute and cuddly… a soft creature, so very willing to keep you warm at night, will leave such an ungodly hairball-driven mess under the bed once you fall asleep?
  • Slippers, when you’re hunting around under the bed at 5am, do NOT feel cold and slimy and generally speaking, do not fall apart when you try to pick them up when you’re half asleep and in the dark.
  • “Ewwwwww!” is as effective as a foghorn for waking up just about anybody.
  • Cats, who usually have four legs, can run faster than you can at 5am, no matter how many legs you use and won’t understand why you’re chasing them, anyway.
  • While you’re chasing a cat at 5am, your unslippered foot will invariably find a second pile of cat yack you didn’t know was there, either.
  • Even should you manage to grab the cat under those conditions, the cat will slip away because your hands are still coated with the cat yack that you mistook for your slipper.
  • Attempts at sleeping after suddenly being awakened at 5am, cleaning the mess, washing both one’s hands and feet and the carpet under the bed, are generally unproductive.
  • President George W. Bush has done more for freedom than any other President since Ronald Reagan. Ironicly, their far left opponants call them dictitorial. I can’t help but wonder how such leftists would fare in the ‘government owns all’ society they tout.
  • How is it that so many who object to torture being used to gather information and thus saving lives, on grounds of principle, seem to have an utter LACK of principle when the subjects of Abortion and legalised prostitution come up?
  • Energy independance is on the minds of many Americans today. But, apparently the Enviro-wackos don’t share that desire. You’ll recall that Hydrogen is suppsoed to be the fuel of the future. But in some quarters, that point is being seriously questioned.  At some point we’d better admit that the enviro-wachos don’t WANT us using engery of ANY sort, and move on from there.

  • Here’s a peek at Downtown Rochester Posted by HelloWith my SUV and my conversion van looking rather cold and very buried under the several feet of snow that came in the night, and with the computer advising me of winchills in the -20f range, I can only ask: Where in the bleeding hell is the global warming we were promised? Personally, I figure we oughta throw a few more enviro-wackos on the fire.
  • Given Howard Dean is directly reprewsentitive of the politics of the ideas and ideals that have driven the party over the last 60 years, and is in fact somewhat to the right of where the Democrats have been over that time, the specticle of the Democrats doing everything they can to keep him out of the position of party leadership is a little jarring. It does, however seem to me that this is an admission by some in the Democratic party that they cannot win with those ideas any longer… that the extreme leftism that has driven the party for so long has been rejected by the American Voters. Given that their presidential candidates ahve not won the popular vote since FDR, their conclusion seems a little overlong in coming.
  • I understand the attractions, I suppose, of a cruise ship.  But at some point, even the people who do that kind of vacation regularly have to question why.
  • The US is apparently rushing flood aid to Guyana Did you even know about it? Not enough money to be made for Kofi to send the UN, I suppose.

  • The family dog is lying next to me as I type this…. snoring. She’s getting more than a little grey around the muzzle and the eyes. She’s been a good family freind for many years. I am suddenly mindful of the late Tom T. Hall’s song of a couple decades ago… “Old Dogs, Children and Watermellon Wine”.
