Is God on Our Side, Senator Kerry?

Is God on our side, Senator Kerry? [1]

Matt Drudge yesterday ran a Bit on his site, regarding the debate, and came up with this gem:

“Democrat frontrunner John Kerry is not sure God is on America’s side in the war terrorism. Kerry made the startling comments during Sunday’s Democrat presidential debate in New York City.

Elizabeth Bumiller of the NEW YORK TIMES asked Kerry: “President Bush has said that freedom and fear have always been at war, and God is not neutral between them. He’s made quite clear in his speeches that he feels God is on America’s side. ”

“Is God on America’s side?”

KERRY: Well, God will — look, I think — I believe in God, but I don’t believe, the way President Bush does, in invoking it all the time in that way. I think it is — we pray that God is on our side, and we pray hard. And God has been on our side through most of our existence.

Mike Totten says about this: [2]

Jerry Falwell said God punished America for abortion, feminism, lesbianism, and paganism by unleashing the September 11 attacks. I think it’s safe to assume John Kerry does not share Jerry Falwell’s twisted view of the universe.

Uhhhh… Mike? (waving hand) Mike? Hello?

You’re usualy pretty sharp, so I gotta ask…Where did THAT come from? You’re the only one invoking Falwell, here. I recognize being anti-religious is fashionable these days, and Falwell seems to be a favorite target of late to such people but that argument’s not cutting it here, particularly when it has so very little to do with the context of the question being asked.

Regardless of your personal beleifs as regards the nature of God, one generally assumes God is good. Therefore the question comes down to the perception Kerry has about right and wrong…. Does John Kerry, on looking into his heart of hearts think the US is doing the right thing by Iraq… and clearly the answer is, he does not. It appears he’d prefer Saddam be back in power, rather like Hitlery mentioned over the weekend.

Kerry tried to shape the expression of that into a dig at Mr. Bush’s commitment to his faith, and failed.

It’s amazing that the Democrats still back this moron.. when he drops the softballs underhanded to him by the TIMES, you know he’s got some issues with thinking on his feet.

And I expected better out of Totten.

UPDATE:

Lilkes has some thoughts worth pondering [3]

As does John Weidner [4] (Hey, sometimes, Mac Users actually have some valid comments! [Huge grin])
