About_BitsBlog

Welcome to the ever growing world of BitsBlog [1].

BitsBlog is run by Eric “Bithead [2]” Florack, with able writing help from old friend DavidL, and new freind, Fersboo.

Bit’s a vet of some 25 years of online discussions of politics, starting in the old FIDONET and GT networks, then moving to Usenet and finally having his own website about 1996. He’s also a veteran of some 20 years of Broadcast (radio) experience.

Bit is a contributor to The Conservative Reader,  and Pajamas Media, and is frequently seen in the comment areas of Outside the Beltway and Q&O.  He is available for radio talk show interviews. Contact him here. [3]

DavidL is no stranger to Online political discussions, having been involved back in the GT and Fido days, as well, being active for years on the “We The People” echo.   Both David and Bit hail from Rochester, NY

Fersboo is from Annapolis MD, and started on BitsBlog [1] in 2004.

The most recent addition to the BitsBlog family is Mel Douglass [4]. Like David and Eric, Mel is a vet of the “We the People”  echo on the old GT network, and  is still active in the mail group that still survives to this day.  Mel’s also a frequent poster on Facebook.  Not only is Mel a great addition for his political acumen, but he’s also our go-to guy for the ‘slice of life’ stuff.

BitsBlog [1], per se, has been around since June of 2000, starting life as a Blogspot blog. The blog really didn’t take off, though, until September 12th of 2000, and the events of 9/11. We consider, therefore, our birthday to be 9/12/01.

BitsBlog [1] became a stand-alone Blog, running WordPress [5] software on Thanksgiving Day, 2006. We are currently in our 8th year. We have been lucky enough to be cited by top-line websites and news outlets, such as the New York Times [6], CNN’s Political Tracker [7], Instapundit,  Free Republic, The Chicago Sun-Times, and too many blogs to mention, here.
