Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe says that after President Trump fired his boss, FBI Director James Comey, there were discussions within the Department of Justice about invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.
Last year, the New York Times reported that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein discussed recruiting Cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment.

United States Constitution, Amendment 25, Article 4:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

McCabe describes his objective, to oust the duly elected President from office. However no mention was made of his evidence, if any.  Article 25 does not allow for removal of the President based on policy disagreements.  Rather the amendment allows for removal of the President for the inability to discharge the powers and duties of the office.

The 25th is intended to allow the permanent or temporary removal of the President for medical reasons. The medical condition of the President is matter for his physician and the Cabinet and not for the lawyers of the Department of Justice.  So Andy McCabe, what were you smoking?
