Nightly Ramble: Government Money Corrupts Everything It Touches

I’m in the Bronx again tonight. The truck is working well, and I’m having a very productive week. Almost 1500 miles so far, which is actually quite good for this point in the week. Good thing too, given the Memorial Day weekend, which means I end up with a short paycheck next week. It all balances out eventually.

Welcome to my world.

Recently, incidental to a debate about the myth of global warming, I presented a long list of scientists, meteorologists, and lay people, who stoutly disagreed with the spreading of the myth of global warming, and certainly with the policies that spring from those myths. These people laid out solid scientific fact, and the other side immediately sprung up with “well they’re in the pocket of big oil.”

This seems to me are totally disingenuous argument. They’re being corrupted by oil money?

Decades now, Liberals among us pushing the global Warming mythology, while suggesting that big oil and its money corrupts science, seem to ignore the possibility, nay, the probability that money in the form of government grants to scientists who tow the AGW line, is equally equally if not more suspect as a source of corruption. I say more, because there is certainly more money flowing from government on these matters then there is from the oil companies who simply don’t have the resources to battle government. As an example, oil companies make perhaps a nickel a gallon on their products. Meantime, governments is a bit more successful than that, taking perhaps 50 to 60 cents per gallon at minimum and profits on the products that the oil companies produced. So, who has more money to throw around? Therefore, who is it that creates more corruption in science persuade people to their side of the argument? And have you noticed, that the government’s side of the argument, leads to greater governmental power, increased taxation, or limitations on the individual, and so on?

This isn’t rocket science, kids. Governmental power, governmental money is by far a larger corruptive influence then anything the private sector has ever dreamed up.
