It strikes me that there’s an awful lot of people who are currently chastising Charlie Hebdo for going too far in offending Muslims, who were just a short decade ago complaining about how George W Bush personally cutting funding  for an artist, thus stifling his free-speech when he produced a crucifix in a bottle of his own urine, and called it art.

I guess now that the Socialists are in charge, free speech isn’t all it’s cracked up to be anymore. Or maybe it’s just that Christians aren’t as likely to shoot up your establishment, and the people in it, because they’re offended. I mean maybe you remember all the beheadings and the shootings and the burnings by overwrought Methodists and Lutherans that resulted from Mapplethorpe dumping his load of crap on society and expecting them to pay for it. I certainly don’t.

If there’s something deeper going on here than that I’ll be blessed if I can see it. I encourage explanation. Doubting, all the while, then I’ll get any.

You know, I guess there’s a reason we see more terrorism when liberals are in charge here in the US. It’s because terrorism tends to work better, then. It always works better where the spineless hold sway.

It’s equally striking to me, is that what we have just been witness to is the path not to tread. The French have been bending over backwards, cedeing entire neighborhoods to the Muslims. Giving them autonomy within those collectives. What the Muslims wanted the Muslims Got. And yet we still see things like this.

This is a lesson that should have been learned when Neville Chamberlain came back waving a paper in his hand it was signed by Adolf Hitler, about the appeasement of a mortal enemy. It simply doesn’t work.

I suppose the French people see that a lot more clearly than their own government does. I suppose also the same of the Americans. One wonders how long it has to be before recognition is had in each of those governments.
