The Obama regime and the angry feminist are enraged over a supposed epidemic of rape on college campuses. The problem, while they want to pretend the problem is rape, they refuse to call it rape. Rather some nebulous crime called “sexual assault” has been invented and campus star cambers have been established to prosecute the number of males necessary to satisfy the both the demands of the regime and cows, i.e. angry feminists.
The problem for the regime and the cows is that is a well established system to deal with rape, to wit the criminal justice system. The facts that the regime and the cows do not call their grievance rape and do not use the criminal justice system to prosecute it is sufficient evident that whatever this so-called sexual assault is, it is not rape.
That having been said, I say it long past time for the regime and the cows to stop equating opposition to campus star chamber proceeding to support for rape. If a case amounts to rape, then call the police. Otherwise shut and quit pretended that whatever happened if that dorm room amounts to rape.
Enter one George Will, from Washington Post:
Colleges and universities are being educated by Washington and are finding the experience excruciating. They are learning that when they say campus victimizations are ubiquitous (“micro-aggressions,” often not discernible to the untutored eye, are everywhere), and that when they make victimhood a coveted status that confers privileges, victims proliferate. And academia’s progressivism has rendered it intellectually defenseless now that progressivism’s achievement, the regulatory state, has decided it is academia’s turn to be broken to government’s saddle.
Consider the supposed campus epidemic of rape, a.k.a. “sexual assault.” Herewith, a Philadelphia magazine report about Swarthmore College, where in 2013 a student “was in her room with a guy with whom she’d been hooking up for three months”:
To which one Erin Gloria Ryan, Jezebel, responds:
[Will] begins his piece claiming that namby pamby wimpy pants liberals are turning colleges into victim factories because being a rape victim is kind of like being prom queen in Obama’s America (TM), but then goes on to acknowledge that rape is underreported because REASONS. If victimhood is so coveted, wouldn’t it stand to reason that rape would overreported? And where are the male victims of sexual assault in all of this? Where is the stigma they face, the fear and humiliation they must confront if they come forward to people with antique social attitudes like Will’s?
To Ryan I say, man up. If Ms Coed feels she was raped, then report the rape to the police. It there job to investigate crime. However if neither Ms Coed, nor State U, treat what ever happened to dod not happen to Ms Coed as felony, to wit rape, then quit screaming rape. Is that simple enough for a cow?
