Breakfast Scramble (Tuesday)

DavidL's Breakfast Scramble
Dope from Hope blasts Karl Rove, from Ben Smith Politico [1]:

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee today broadened the assault on the Republican Party establishment — and former Bush adviser Karl Rove in particular — levied recently by Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh, blasting the “elitism” and “country club attitude exhibited by Rove and others who dismissed Delaware Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell.

“I was very disappointed in some, particularly Karl and others, who were so dismissive of Christine O’Donnell,” Huckabee told Aaron Klein on the latter’s WABC radio show Sunday.

“Unfortunately, there is an elitism within the Republican establishment,” Huckabee told Klein. “And it’s one of the reasons the Republicans have not been able to solidify not only the tea party movement but solidify conservatives across America.”

Granted Huckabee is not an elite.  He is from Arkansas.  Sadly neither is Huckabee a conservative.

George Will picks Alan Grayson clean, from Newsweak [2]:

ORLANDO—There are hundreds of plausible nominees for the title of America’s Second-Smarmiest Politician, but surely the top spot is un-contested. Americans of all political persuasions can come together in affirming one proposition: Public life would be improved by scrubbing Rep. Alan Grayson from it. This act of civic hygiene probably will be performed Nov. 2 by voters of Florida’s Eighth Congressional District. Polls indicate that a majority of them plan to deny Grayson, 52, a second term by electing his resonantly

While Will leaves much to be desired as a pundit, he unmatched  as an artisan with words.   Not to worry Al, you’ll always have PMSNBC.

Obamatards: bigs rigs to go green, from Drive On [3]:

The Obama folks have proposed the first-ever fuel economy rules for over-the-road trucks, medium-duty trucks (including heavy-duty pickups) and school buses.

Under proposed rules for these vehicles unveiled by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Transportation Department, fuel economy would have to increase 10% to 20% from the 2014 models to 2018. The rules, with whatever modifications follow the comment period, are expected to be final next summer.

Leave to the retread in the Obama administration, who never had a day job, to keep Detroit to be able to jump to their tune.   Given the horribly high cost of fuel, I expect that truck manufacturers have already done what they can to maximize fuel mileage.    About the only wat left to increase mileage to reduce weight, which just does not make sense for big rigs.   After all, they are in the cargo hauling business.

Get NPR off the public dole, from Mark Browning, American Thinker [4]:

In the end, then, local NPR affiliates derive something like 41% of their funding from taxes, either directly or indirectly

Remember Vivian, you’ll always have George Soros.

Bumper  Snicker  of the Day, spotted in Ithaca, NY by William A Jacobson, Legal Insurrection [5]:

[6]

Snicker reads:   Feminism  is the radical notion that women are people.

It should read:  Gender feminism is the radical notion women are people, except if their mother decides to kill them, they are  born, and only hold approved liberal views.
