WASHINGTON — A blizzard-like storm rocked the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Saturday, crippling travel across the region and causing hundreds of thousands of power outages.

Five deaths appeared to have been caused by the storm system, which stretched from the Carolinas north to New England and also spread into some Midwestern states. The 13 inches of snow that had fallen in the nation’s capital by late afternoon was the most-ever for a day in December, while 9 inches had fallen in Philadelphia.

Then look at the bright side, as this morning Rochester, was winning the Snow Derby.
