Nightly Ramble: The Car Wax Edition

Welcome, one and all to the most intense nightly read anywhere on the sphere… The BitsBlog Nightly Ramble

This is the Car Wax editionramble-carwax [1]

  • Whoa… Check it out! I usually don’t mention caption contests until they’ve been won by someone on the BitsBlog team, here. But check the shots Dodd (and now Joyner) are running for the current [2]OTB caption contest [2].  By the way, James… Dill on vaca, is he?
  • Ya knew it was gonna happen: Sonya Sotomayor will face one of the winners in her overturned Ricci case [3]in her confirmation hearings next week.  Let’s see if the press, Fox aside, actually covers this one.
  • The Ugly Frenchman: What we keep hearing about American tourists, turns out to be more applicable to the French [4].
  • Yet another Gore in the news:  Someone finally won [5]the running of the bulls in Spain.
  • Long Live The Queen:  Will someone please such that mangy mongrel mutt [6]up?
  • The Gloved one and taxes in LA:  This one should be fairly obvious. While LA complains that the million some odd dollars of bills  imposed by the sheer volume of mourners at his circus funeral service, I would think the larger impact would be him no longer being around and making money to pay what must have been huge taxes to the city and the state over a period of decades.  I suppose that story won’t be coveed because it casts a positive light on the impact of the uber-rich on society. By the way, he’s not even buried yet [7]and we’re now hearing about foul play charges from Jackson’s erstwhile father [8]. Welcome back, my freinds, to the show that never ends….
  • It’s not a tumor: Andy McCarthy at The Corner yet again raises the point [9]that what’s going on in Honduras is not a coup, it’s the rule of law. Which casts a whole different light on PrezBO’s actions, here.

Bottom line: Hugo Chavez wants Zelaya in, the law of Honduras says Zelaya must be out; Obama sided with Chavez.

Yep. The implications here are obvious. Dan Miller looks at What’s Next for the place at Pajamas Media. [11]

  • Cap and Tax won’t solve “Global Warming”: Not that it needed solving anyway, but Neal Boortz examines the situation [12].
  • No kidding, Mickey:  Kaus notes: [13]

If he were a GOP, TPM would be all over it, no?

    Kaus [14]

Sen. Inouye acts on behalf of a constituent, who turns out to be in large part himself [15] (a troubled bank in which his ownership share makes up “the bulk of his personal wealth [16]“). … Yet Josh Marshall stays silent [17].

No kidding… It’s the kind of thing I’ve seen all along in Marshall and why he gets quote here so seldom. Tell me again, how my comments are ‘one sided’, again. And tell me again about the Rabbitts, will ya? Sheesh.

  •  Always on the leading edge of technology:  Reynolds wonders [18]: “IS THERE A PEE-POWERED GADGET [19] in your future?” If so, brewing beer will have a whole new impact on society.
