Considering the story was covered by a White House reporter, and not from Fox, the event was staged. This president is tone deaf, or stupid, maybe both.

I have to admit that thought has cross my mind, too, David. There seems to me a deliberate attempt by the administration to cast Mr. Obama as not taking any of our problems, domestically or in the world at large, seriously. If it’s an attempt at projecting unworried competence, it’s a poor one. If on the other hand, it’s an attempt to downplay these events, all it does is project Obama as more incompetant than we already thought him, and that will doubtless be reflected in the next Rasmussen poll. The last one was headed down, already. [10]
