Welcome, one and all to the most intense nightly read anywhere on the ‘sphere…The BitsBlog Nightly Ramble
- Not Responsible: I note George Will getting it wrong, again. I’m no political fan of Ahhnold, but to lay the blame for California’s problems on his Gucci loafers, as Will does here [2], is to miscast California’s problems, and thereby the solution as well.
- Oh, $#!+: I can just hear the pilot, here. [3]
- Emily Latella, call your office: The flu has turned into a fizzle. [4]
- Bye, Jack: I know David and I have both commented on Jack Kemp’s passage, but Jonah ‘s comment deserves a reading. [5] And the notes at Forbes [6]do, too.
- Meanwhile back in the loony bin: Specter shows us the slime he is. [7] McQ has some comments as well. [8] David got this one correctly, too. But Tom Nugent gives lie [9]to Specter’s nonsense. No, Arlen, Jack Kemp didn’t die of the GOP agenda, as you charge… he being it’s staunchest defender. He stood by it’s principles. Too bad such principles are so far beyond your understanding. Idiot.
- Newt grasps the obvious: Says Obama is endangering Israel [10]. America, too, of course.
- Obama’s dream: Wall Street will play a less dominant role, he says [11]. Which of course means government will play a larger role. Not exactly the message to send an already over-governed economy. Where does Obama think jobs come from, anyway?
- China reacts: …. by cutting down on buying treasury bills [12]
- Jeb Bush is an idiot. I mean, let’s just make it official, OK? When he comes up with this nonsense [13], you know what’s going on, here. He’s leaning away from where the Republicans need to go.
- More on the GOP split: More examples of GOP Leadership taking the party [14]in the wrong direction. [15]
- Bye Bye Boston Globe: The New York Times says it’s closing the place [16]. With some luck, the blight on New York will be closed next. Given the stated desire of Democrats like John Kerry to keep the place open, this may well be a tactic designed to spring some taxpayer funding to keep the place (And it’s union) [17] floating for a while. I’m hearing the hearing on the matter is up this week sometime midweek. Wednesday, I think. Wonder how that’s going to play off Obama’s White House, who is saying ‘no bailouts for News Papers’ [18] Of course, this is the same White House that said ‘No procecutions for War on Terror’. We see how long that lasted.
