Bret Baier, at Fox  last night:

It is believed President-elect Obama’s inauguration will be the costliest in history — around $50 million — despite the recession. President Bush has declared a state of emergency to free up federal funds to help the district cope with the soaring cost of the event.

There has been little outcry over the hefty price tag so far — unlike four years ago when the cost of President Bush’s second inauguration provoked liberal outrage. described the event, in an piece by Eric Boehlert on Jan. 20, 2005, as “Bush’s overblown celebration,” the think tank Center for American Progress called it “lifestyles of the rich and heartless,” and an article in the London Guardian by Paul Harri on January 9, 2005, said it was “an unashamed celebration of red America’s victory over blue America.”

I see some chatter about this, on some of the Internet channels that are monitor, but it’s not going to come much of anything.

Oh, don’t misread me here.  Baier’s quite right, there’s a double standard here, both on the left and the press a quite glaring one. yet, things as they are,  nobody in any real position is going to be able to do anything about it on that level.

Interestingly enough, one of the factors that isn’t being mentioned in all of this, is the amount of tax money being thrown at this.  Well, that may take a little explaining, that statement.

The inauguration committee, which were in fact largely transplanted from Obama’s election committee, are telling us  (rather defensively) that the lion’s share of the money is coming from private donations. They’ve been telling us that ever since questions about the amount of money being spent on this, started arising.  What they don’t tell you is the amount of donations that are coming from corporations.  Banks, for example.  Banks which have recently received an influx of cash from the bailout bills that have been wafting through Congress like snowflakes.

So, the Democrats toss money at the banks that nobody can trace, supposedly to bail them out. The banks respond by tossing money at Obama’s victory dance. Money that came from our pockets.

All legal, of course. Or is it? the “Center for American Progress”? Scratch them, and George Soros bleeds.

And meanwhile, the left end of the ‘sphere holds it’s silence on both points, in stark contrast to their screams from four years ago.
