Breakfast Scramble

Local plug, wasn’t a bad weekend for Upstate New York.  Syracuse grad, Art Monk got elected to Pro Football Hall of Fame.  Well deserved.  Waterloo native, Syracuse grad coach, and Rochester Institute of Technology head coach Tom Coughlin won the Super Bowl and Syracuse grad David Tyree caught a touchdown poss and had the catch of the game.  Not bad.

John McCain versus Mrs. Clinton. Bob Dole has chided Rush Limbaugh for not supporting McCain.  Dole is a republican first and conservative second.  Limbaugh is a movement conservative first.  As Rush as said many times, movements are about advancing causes.  Parties are about winning elections.  A party will sacrifice a cause to win an election, as Dole is doing by backing McCain.  Offering up a candidate such as McCain who will not advance the cause, it is not a means to garner support.

Health care.  Mrs. Clinton’s health care mandate has been attacked from the left, Deborah Burger, Puffington Post:

Someone needs to tell Senator Hillary Clinton and her minions to stop practicing consumer fraud on healthcare. Forcing people to buy insurance is not “universal healthcare.”

For a few brief seconds, I was tempted to make Burger the Snark of the Day., I am sure that Deborah will be heart broken.  Sadly, Burger gets her knickers in a twist because Mrs. Clinton treats health care as a commodity.  Well Earth to Burger, health care is a commodity, to wit a product of human endeavor.

Thomas Sowell, 101, the supply of any product of human endeavor is finite,.  The distribution of any commodity will be limited.  Burger yearn for a no cost and unlimited supply of health care.  She needs to find some other planet on which to live.  Of course the PP is mad because Mrs. Clinton is not just giving away free health coverage.

Liberalism, Another letter to the fish wrapper chides President Bush for being generous enough in giving way the tax payer money.  Generosity is when you give away your property.  Giving way the property of others is called theft.  If you think we need to do more about say AIDS in Africa, write a check.  Otherwise shut up.

More liberalism, an op-ed asserts that because young black males have a much higher rate of HIV infection, they need special attention from the government.  Does the same logic apply to same population with respect to murder rates?

More, Code Pink is protesting a Marine Corps recruiting station in Berkley, California.  Evidently Code Pink has no analogous plans to protest the local Berkley abortuariums.
