John Edwards, Doesn’t Know History Either

Yeterday, I chided John Edwards for being a shyster lawyer [1],  trying to play physician and not respecting the Constitution of the United States.     That ought to enough fuel for the fire, but Edwards keeps throwing more logs on to the fire.   Here Edwards’ latest.   Lauren R.  Dorgan, Concord Monitor [2]:

John Edwards says if he’s elected president, he’ll institute a New Deal-like suite of programs to fight poverty and stem growing wealth disparity. To do it, he said, he’ll ask many Americans to make sacrifices, like paying higher taxes.

Now we find out that Edwards doesn’t know history either.   Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal was a monumental failure.    Roosevelt’s presided over the longest depression in our nation’s history.   It was World War Two,  and not the New Deal whch got us out of the depression.

As for poverty, in this nation it essentially does not exist.  Poverty is such a trivial problem that no government statistics exist on it.

Edwards wants sacrifice, that we pay more taxes, to fight a problem that does not exist with programs that do not work.
