From the radio world, comes news that 1600/KOKE has dropped Err America.

radio.jpgRatings apparently were the biggest factor… in the last book, they couldn’t even pull 1% in a town known for being liberal, despite having 5000 watts daytimes/(700 night) Interestingly, they spun to a Mexican music format. The choice on the music format may have something to do with their daytime radiation pattern…  almost all of the 5000 watt signal goes south-southwest. At night, that changes of course. And it’s not unusual, anywhere in the country, (particularly in the northeast for some reason ) for bottom feeders to try such formats.

The point is, KOKE was a bottom feeder, with it’s Err America programming. They couldn’t pull 1% listenership in Austin… a town that makes Boston look like a bastion of conservatism.
