Today we honor a Captain from the 82nd Airborne Division’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team for valor in combat in Samarra, Iraq. In addition to the Silver Star [1], CPT Goltry was awarded two Purple Hearts for wounds received in action as well as the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

Not to take anything away from Bruce, or his efforts, but I am struck this morning by the idea that any one of the subjects under the category of Project Hero pretty much writes itself. Writing, often requires embellishment. The subjects that Bruce passes along to us every week, require no such embellishment . There is no salesmanship required. All that is required, is the truth. Nor is there any shortage of these subjects to write about. Such heroes, you see, are all around us.
Project Hero, is a worthy attempt on McQ’s part to remind us that we have heroes among us. Further, that these need to be honored as such. We at BitsBlog are proud to lend our voice to such a project.
