Night Ramble: First in a While

Yeah, I know, it’s been a while. Been really weird around here of late, and a lot more time intensive than I’d like. Some things have to suffer, I guess. Anyway, here’s a few:

  • fleiss.jpgThe latest feather in the cap of the Hillary Clinton campaign is an endorsement from Heidi Fleiss. [1] Of course, this is because of Hillary’s strong family values. Else, this is a pure business decision… she’s running a legal brothel, these days… and maybe she figures to get more businesses from Bill with Hillary occupied.
  • Perhaps it’s just me, and I’m looking into that possibility, but I’ve been having a devil of a time getting in at Outside The Beltway [2] the last couple of days. Timeout city. I know James has been having problems on and off with the site… I hope this isn’t part of that deal.
  • Hell, I can’t even imagine how they WALK in those things, [3] much less RUN.
  • dogfight1.jpgI see reality has finally sunk in with Michael VickHe’s decided to cop a plea. [4] Personally, I was rather hoping for a trial, which would have more assuredly ended his NFL career. Allah comments on this one [5], saying that he doubts the league would eliminate one of their top three talents.  First of all, he isn’t… I’ve always considered Vick over-rated. That arguable point aside, what this comes down to is whether not Michael Vick’s spending the next year in jail or longer.  Longer than a year, you can pretty much kiss his NFL career bye-bye. Here’s hoping.
  • Reynolds has a point [6]: “HOW DO YOU KNOW THINGS ARE BETTER IN IRAQ? There’s less media coverage. [7] Yeah, that fits the mold.
  • That Hurricane [8] is certainly kicking up a fuss. Just short of a cat 5, it’s headed for a Mexican vacation. I’m waiting for some nut case to suggest this is President Bush‘s way of dealing with the Mexican immigration problem. You KNOW someone’s going to say it…. Seriously. We’re going to be dealing with this one in Texas, shortly, as well.
  • To the notice of almost no one, and to the excitement of even fewer, former senator Sam Nunn is considering a run for the White House, again. Not only that but Jim Galloway at the Atlanta Journal Constitution [9] is reporting that he’s planning on doing this outside of the democratic party; in other words, a third party run.  Let’s see, now.  He wouldn’t have democratic party support, the guys 68 years old, he’s starting well behind the leaders, and has almost no chance of winning.  There’s only one conclusion to draw about why he would be running at all.  He needs the tax write-off.
