We Don’t Need No Stinkin Honor Roll

I quess it only would be natural for an education major to expect that  high expectations are somehow unnatural and should be avoided.   After all low expectations are what kept Abraham Lincoln an uneducated farm boy.   Low expectation are how we put a man on the Moon. 

Jim Boyd reports on one school plan to deal with “High Expectations [1]:”

NEEDHAM, Mass. — Needham High School has abandoned its long-standing practice of publishing the names of students who make the honor roll in the local newspaper.

Principal Paul Richards said a key reason for stopping the practice is its contribution to students’ stress level in “This high expectations-high-achievement culture.”

Think low, and you too can someday be principle of a school.
