Saddam And the French Connection

The Scotsman [1] has some interesting news this morning…:

“SADDAM HUSSEIN believed he could avoid the Iraq war with a bribery strategy targeting Jacques Chirac, the President of France, according to devastating documents released last night.

Memos from Iraqi intelligence officials, recovered by American and British inspectors, show the dictator was told as early as May 2002 that France – having been granted oil contracts – would veto any American plans for war. “

So, the French were corrupt? They were going to veto any anti-Iraq action regardless of the facts?

Gee, didn’t I hear someone saying that, right here in this space, even before the President took courage and bypassed that corrupt process? Didn’t I hear someone in this space say that the whole Iraq thing… and why we were being prevented from taking out Saddam and his merry band of thugs was all about oil for the corrupt, socialist, French government? Didn’t I say that the President was quite correct for bypassing the UN?

Addendum: Now, explain to me how John Kerry’s “Global Test” plays into this. How are we to get the approval of the world body John Kerry insists on getting permission from, when that body is demonstrably corrupted?

And yes, despite his claims, that is exactly waht Mr. Kerry would subject us to.
