Yahoo News [1] takes an AFP feed which gleefully reports:

Ummm wait a sec. AFP? That’s, like, a FRENCH news service, right?
And correct me if I’m wrong, but the French are all pissed off that we uncovered their duplicity in Iraq, right? They WANT a weaker America, one that knuckles under to the UN they control, right? The UN that provided both the French… and the Germans, (who were also asked, i note…) …provided them all that blood money called ‘oil for food’, huh?
Now what possible motivation do you suppose they’d have for releasing such nonsense?
So, the French News media is twisting the facts to suit the socialist French agendae. And the left-listers in the US press will run with it.
