The Associated Press [1] says:
“SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The California Supreme Court ruled unanimously Thursday that San Francisco’s mayor overstepped his authority by issuing same-sex marriage licenses this spring. The court also voided all the marriages of gay and lesbian couples sanctioned by the city.”

Additional reality, in the form of a comment from Byron over at Slings and Arrows [2] . He allows as how there were 4000 “couples” who paid $83 bucks each, which comes out to $332k that the city took illegally.
He asks if they’d planned to give it back, now. Nothing in the ruling, so I wonder.
